Thing 4 - Digital Storytelling
My first issue was to try to determine the difference between storytelling and presentation software. I found in most cases you could use the programs to accomplish both. As usual I went a little overboard trying to find just the right one for the projects that I am working on. I now have a list of about a dozen that I liked the best. My two favorites are: Storyboard That! https://www.storyboardthat.com and ThingLink https://www.thinglink.com . They are both pretty easy to use once you learn the basics, have lots of features and provide a very pleasing product.
I started with free accounts in both cases and then upgraded to premium to be able to add class projects and student work. As an aside to the above, I also have used Google slides and created a very impressive presentation through that and I believe it is a another good alternative to some of the storytelling programs that I looked at.
I also looked at a comic program: toondoo http://www.toondoo.com that I really liked and was pretty user friendly.
Besides these programs when I was looking at digital storytelling, I came across several timeline programs. I have used the Worldbook online timeline and it is pretty impressive. When I was exploring these programs there was a couple that I liked. One was called tiki toki
http://www.tiki-toki.com/ and the other was dipity www.dipity.com.
I have already used some of the above with my students. They picked up Storyboard That! with very little instruction and created some very interesting products.
Thanks for mentioning the World Book Timeline tool. I'll check that one out. Good to hear that StoryBoard That is easy for students to use.
